What We Stand for:
1. We are a strong, powerful and professional organization on the side of law enforcement.
2. We believe that all law-abiding citizens have the right (if they so select), to own firearms for self-defense and sport.  We are also ready to serve as a standing "militia" during any disaster or national emergency, as part of civil defense preparedness.
3. We support swift punishment for career criminals. 
4. We favor the death penalty and are determined to achieve drug-free schools and communities.
5. We believe that victims of crime are entitled to recompense for damages and lost wages.

Who We Are:
 We are tax exempt, non-profit and educational (by charter) with more than 100,000 members from police, security and citizens' groups.  We are an association of men and women from all parts of the United States who understand that we all stand a better chance of winning the "war on crime" as part of a team.  Police and citizens together...thus a Federation.

Membership:
• ACTIVE MEMBERS are provided all the benefits listed in this brochure.  Dues are $36 a year (About 9¢ per day).
• ASSOCIATE MEMBERS are individuals who have selected certain reduced benefits and publications.  Dues are $20 per year.

Benefits & Services

Your Official ID Card
 Your membership card and special car emblem were created to assist local law enforcement officers as part or a civil defense support project.  During any national emergency, the county sheriff or local police chief could call upon volunteers trained by us, (AFP).  Presently, only a few civil defense programs exist.  Your card displays your name and other emergency information.  The star decal displayed on you car shows that you support your local police.  It is not intended to obtain special traffic favors or parking rights.

American Police Hall of Fame and Museum
 Your card will admit you and your family to the American Police Hall of Fame and Museum anytime of the year.  This building houses crime exhibits as well as the posting of officers killed in the line of duty.  A portion of your dues helps us to provide support for the programs and care of the memorial.

Police Time Magazine
 Every member is sent the award-winning POLICE TIMES magazine.  News of interest regarding police, court decisions, training concepts and new police products are just some of the many topics featured in the publication.  A subscription is included in your annual dues.

Awards Recognition
Last year more than 300 members were nominated for awards for service, valor or for community service.  2,000 Medals of Merit were issued in the war on drugs!  We have one of the most active programs where YOU can obtain recognition for yourself, your family, or someone you know.  Each award is hand-embossed.  Awards include a miniature medal as well.  With membership you will be sent a nomination from that can be submitted at any time.
