During Police Week and on Peace Officer's Memorial Day (May 15th of every year by Act of Congress) family survivors are invited to attend a memorial service at the American Police Hall of Fame now located in Titusville, Florida.
Taps are played, and the names of officers killed in the line of duty during the past calendar year are solemnly read by the Presidents of the supporting organizations. Each year more than 250 survivors and their guests attended both the banquet and the solemn service.
The Police Family Survivor's Fund hosts the event and housing and meals are provided to any family survivor wishing to attend regardless of what year their loved one was killed in the line of duty. Funding is again provided by our many generous donors to the program. The program provides a venue for survivors to share problems, concerns and to interact with AFP&CC staff members about what more can be done in the areas of comfort, counseling and educating the public.
Chaplains who specialize in police-related problems join the solemn ceremony through the auspices of the Venerable Order of Michael the Archangel Police Legion
