LOCAL INITIATIVE MAY HELP SAVE LIVES
IN YOUR COMMUNITY!
In an effort to help save lives in Brevard County, Florida, the American Heart Association and Health First Institute will award 11 law enforcement agencies with automated external defibrillators (AED’s) and training funds.
An AED is a small, portable device that can send an electric shock to the heart and restore a patient’s heart rhythm to normal levels before emergency crews arrive on the scene.
The 53 AED’s will be placed in the law enforcement vehicles to help revive cardiac-arrest victims.
While this initiative affects eleven police agencies in Brevard County, the Heart Ready Brevard initiative is funded through a $150,000 Heath First Foundation commitment, the American Heart Association can provide information on how your community or business can become “Heart Ready”. Depending on availability, free educational lectures for your group may be available, as well. Call the American Heart Association toll-free at 1-800-929-2033.
