The American Police Hall of Fame and Museum
holds a Memorial Service each year during Police Week to honor law
enforcement’s fallen heroes. We extend an invitation to all Police
Family Survivors to join us as we remember our heroes that we miss so
much. This year’s service will take place on Friday evening, May 17th
at 7:30pm and will be held on the grounds of the American Police Hall of Fame
and Museum. The memorial service will provide a time to reflect
on all of our law enforcement officers lost over the years. There will
be a final roll call of the officers lost in 2012, as well as a roll call of
those officers lost in previous years that have family in attendance.
Our hope is that you will receive a blessing and encouragement while you
visit during this special time. All of us want to pay tribute to how
these officers lived, and to remember that they died in service to their
fellow citizens. There
will be open seating at the Memorial Service for all attending with the
exception of a section marked off for 2012 survivors. We welcome
and recommend that you come to the property early so you can tour the museum
and locate your loved one’s name on the memorial wall. This is a
good time to make name tracings for yourself and other family members that
are not able to attend. The service will conclude around 9:00pm and the
museum & memorial will remain open afterwards until 10:00pm for those
unable to visit prior to the service. It’s important to
take the time to reflect on the officers we’ve lost over the years but it is
equally important to connect with family and make new friends. On
Saturday, May 18th, we invite you to join us for a Bar-B-Q at Fox
Lake Park in Titusville. The park is located just 5 minutes down the
road from the hotels. We’ll be serving Bar-B-Q and all the fixin’s along with live music that will begin at
11:30am. There is a great playground at the park for the children and
there will be activities and games as well. We hope you will be
able to join us for this time of fun, food and fellowship which will give you
an opportunity to get to know other survivors from across the country and
build relationships that will last a lifetime. All Family
Survivors who plan to attend the Memorial Weekend will need to register with
the American Police Hall of Fame and Museum. The registration fee is $20 per person, 2 years and under are free.
Registration entitles each member to a memorial button, 2013 memorial t-shirt
and a ticket for Saturday’s event. These items will be available to
pick up at the museum on Friday, May 17th prior to the Memorial Service. Please read the
information on accommodations carefully: This year’s
accommodations are available at the Hampton Inn or Fairfield Marriott located
directly off I-95 in Titusville. This year you will contact
the hotel of your choice directly to make your reservations. When
you place your reservation, you will be required to make a deposit of $19 +
tax per night for Friday, May 17th and
Saturday, May 18th. There is no additional charge for these 2 nights,
as the Police Hall of Fame will pick up the balance. If you would like
to extend your stay, additional nights are available for $79 and can be made
when you make your reservation. All reservations, as well as changes and
cancellations to your reservation must be done through the hotel. Both
hotels offer a free hot breakfast for their guests and Cracker Barrel is
located next door. Check in time at the hotels is 3:00pm, which will
provide ample time to rest and grab a bite to eat prior to the
service. All hotel reservations must be made by April 1, 2013.
Transportation to
Titusville, Florida is NOT
provided. If you plan to fly into the area, we suggest you check the
rates to fly into Orlando International Airport, Orlando/Sanford Airport, or
Melbourne International Airport. Drive time to the hotel and American
Police Hall of Fame and Museum is comparable from each airport. You
will also need to arrange for a rental car during your stay. We hope you will consider joining us for
our Memorial Service and look forward to seeing many of you once again and
meeting others of you for the very first time. |
