Police Times and
The Chief of Police Magazine

Dear Writer/Photographer:
Police Times is the official journal of the American Federation of Police and Concerned Citizens.  We seek articles on speculation regarding all areas of law enforcement, with special emphasis on stories involving smaller police departments or individuals who have made a special place in law enforcement...past or present.  Police Times is published quarterly.  The Chief of Police Magazine, published bi-monthly, is the official journal of the National Association of Chiefs of Police.  For The Chief of Police Magazine we seek articles that would be of particular interest to command rank American law enforcement personnel.  If accepted, we may elect to publish a particularly interesting piece in both publications.  Allow 90-180 days for publication, which is at the editor's discretion, and may include publication on our website as part of our magazine's contents.

We pay from $25 to $100 for articles including photos.  Photos may be submitted in b&w or color.  Fillers and short articles are also considered.  Length of articles may vary, but usually range up to 2,500 words for Police Times; 5,000 words for The Chief of Police Magazine.  Payment is made upon acceptance.  A complimentary copy of the issue in which the article appears is provided to the writer.

If you are using a personal computer for typing articles, please send them on IBM compatible 3 1/2" disks as well as a hard copy.

Sample copies:  For Police Times $2.50, for The Chief of Police Magazine $3.00.  Include SASE with all submissions.

Assigned Articles:  Articles specifically assigned by the editors are paid at double scale.  These are reserved for writers who we have previously published in our publications.

Faxed proposals:  Accepted by faxing short proposal to:  Jim Gordon, Executive Editor, Police Times (321) 264-0033.  Allow ample time for reply.  If corresponding via E-Mail, please provide hard copy address for reply.
