POLICE CHIEF LOOKS TO BAN VEST-BASHING GUN

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Oak Hill, Fl. – After receiving a nationwide alert regarding a new kind of handgun which can render a bulletproof vest useless, Police Chief Walter Zalisko is calling for the model five-seven handgun to be taken off the market. This weapon should be banned and banned aggressively.

The most shocking part is that this gun is being marketed to the public. The weapon is manufactured by FN Herstal, a Belgian company. On its web site, the company boasts the five-seven’s ability to penetrate more than 48 layers of Kevlar – the material bulletproof vests are made of – if you use a five-seven, 28mm armor-piercing bullet. At a distance of 21 feet this bullet penetrated 2 bulletproof vets. Chief Zalisko states, “The velocity of this bullet makes it a more penetrating bullet and extremely dangerous to police officers and the public alike.” “Police Officers are now going to have to rethink how they will protect the public and themselves,” says Chief Zalisko.

Weapons of any type in the hands of criminals are a danger to any police officer and citizen, but one that is specifically advertised by the manufacturer to be capable of penetrating layers of bulletproof vests is a serious concern to everyone.

Chief Zalisko wants all police officers and citizens to contact their lawmakers and appeal to them to outlaw this weapon and ammunition for public sale. The federal government must take steps to ban these rounds to the civilian public. We need legislation to be passed both federally and locally, banning this weapon so these weapons never come into our state and never get into the hands of criminals we apprehend. This type of weapon does not belong in the civilian population. There is no justifiable need for such a weapon other than to kill innocent people.
