FAMILIES OUTRAGED AFTER NJ COP KILLER
IS FREED AFTER 39 YEARS
Cop killer Thomas Trantino celebrated his 64th birthday recently with parole from New Jersey halfway house while victim’s relatives shuddered with disgust. Our organization’s Police Family Survivor’s Newsletter spotlighted this travesty in front page article by James J. Casey a year ago when Trantino was sent to a halfway house.
After the cold-blooded execution of Lodi, New Jersey Police Officers Gary Tedesco and Peter Voto in 1963, Trantino was sentenced to death. When New Jersey abolished capital punishment, the sentence was commuted to life. “I wish they would put him back...How could they let an animal like that out?” said Officer Voto’s brother, Peter, who was the former Lodi police chief. He still has nightmares about the 1963 shooting according to sources at the New York Post.
“We are outraged as well” fumed Executive Editor Jim Gordon. “ I urge all of our readers to complain about this travesty to the Governor of New Jersey, Donald Di Francesco 125 W. State Street, Trenton, NJ 08625. Phone 609-292-6000. Fax 609-292-3454.
